doomscrollers
Bad news addicts
Doomscrollers are people who compulsively scroll through social media or news feeds consuming negative or distressing content, often late at night.
The term combines doom with the endless scrolling motion of touchscreen browsing, capturing how users get trapped in cycles of anxiety-inducing information.
The doomscrollers were up all night reading about the latest crisis.
The singular doomscroller describes someone prone to this habit.
