disvalue

Regard as worthless

Disvalue is the opposite of value—something harmful, undesirable, or negatively weighted.

Philosophers use it when discussing ethics: pain is a disvalue, pleasure a value.

As a verb, to disvalue something is to regard it as worthless or treat it as unimportant: The company disvalues employee wellbeing.

The term appears mainly in academic and formal contexts.
