display model
Store demonstration unit
A display model is a product—typically electronics or appliances—set out in a store for customers to examine before buying.
Display models often sell at a discount because they've been handled, demonstrated, or show minor wear: We got the TV cheap because it was the display model.
The term extends to anything presented as a sample or demonstration unit rather than kept in original packaging.
