dill seed
Herb for pickles
Dill seed is the dried fruit of the dill plant, used as a spice.
Despite the name, these are technically fruits rather than seeds.
They have a warm, slightly bitter flavor distinct from dill's feathery leaves (dill weed).
Dill seed appears in pickling brines, breads, and European cuisines: Add dill seed to the cucumber brine.
