deloading
Intentional intensity reduction
Deloading is a planned period of reduced training intensity or volume, typically lasting a week, to allow the body to recover from accumulated stress.
Athletes and weightlifters schedule deload weeks to prevent overtraining and promote long-term progress: I'm deloading this week—just light sets and mobility work.
The practice recognizes that rest is part of getting stronger.
