deep trance
Total hypnotic absorption
Deep trance is a state of profound hypnotic absorption in which a person becomes highly responsive to suggestion and largely unaware of their surroundings.
In therapeutic and stage hypnosis, deep trance allows for phenomena like amnesia, hallucination, and anesthesia that lighter states don't produce.
The term also describes intense meditative states: She entered a deep trance during the ceremony.
