light trance
Shallow hypnotic state
A light trance is a mild altered state of consciousness characterized by relaxed focus and heightened suggestibility, but without the deeper dissociation of full hypnosis.
The person remains aware of surroundings and can easily return to normal alertness: She slipped into a light trance during the meditation.
Common in hypnotherapy, guided relaxation, and repetitive activities like highway driving.
