danger close
Friendly fire imminent
Danger close is a military term for artillery or air strikes called in extremely near friendly positions—close enough that the requesting unit accepts risk of being hit by its own support fire.
The phrase has spread to general use for any situation where help and harm are separated by a razor-thin margin: The deadline was danger close, but we made it.
