A cyclone cellar is an underground shelter designed to protect people from tornadoes and severe storms, typically found in regions prone to such weather.
Also called a storm cellar or tornado shelter.
The structure is usually built into the ground near a house, with reinforced walls and a heavy door: When the sirens went off, we headed straight for the cyclone cellar.
