A custard slice is a rectangular pastry consisting of a thick layer of vanilla custard sandwiched between two sheets of puff pastry, typically topped with white icing or fondant.
Common in British and Australian bakeries, it's a messier cousin of the mille-feuille: The custard squished out the sides when I bit into it.
