cummin

Earthy Middle Eastern spice

Cummin is a variant spelling of cumin, the aromatic spice made from dried seeds of a plant in the parsley family.

This spelling appears in older texts, particularly the King James Bible: For the fitches are not threshed with a threshing instrument, neither is a cart wheel turned about upon the cummin.

Modern usage strongly favors cumin.
