crypts of Lieberkühn
Gut mucosal pits
Crypts of Lieberkühn are tubular glands lining the small and large intestines, named after the German anatomist who described them.
These tiny pits between the villi secrete digestive enzymes and mucus while continuously producing new cells to replace the intestinal lining.
Also called intestinal crypts or intestinal glands.
