cruzeiro
Former Brazilian denomination
Cruzeiro was a unit of Brazilian currency, used in various forms from 1942 to 1994, replaced multiple times due to inflation.
The name comes from the Southern Cross constellation (Cruzeiro do Sul), depicted on the Brazilian flag.
In Portuguese, cruzeiro also means a crucifix or wayside cross.
