crossflow
Side-to-side movement
Crossflow describes movement or design where one stream passes perpendicular to another.
In engines, a crossflow cylinder head has intake and exhaust ports on opposite sides, allowing air to flow across the combustion chamber: a crossflow engine.
In ventilation and heat exchangers, crossflow arrangements maximize efficiency by moving fluids at right angles to each other.
