floating head
Face without body
A floating head is a disembodied head depicted as hovering in space, common in film posters, video thumbnails, and promotional graphics where faces of cast members appear against backgrounds without visible bodies.
The term often carries mild derision for the clichéd design: Another movie poster with floating heads.
In fantasy and horror, floating heads appear as literal creatures or apparitions—severed heads that move independently.
