crisis hotlines
Urgent help numbers
Crisis hotlines are telephone services providing immediate support to people in emotional distress or danger—particularly those contemplating suicide.
Staffed by trained counselors or volunteers, they offer a lifeline when someone needs to talk but has nowhere else to turn: She called the crisis hotline after midnight.
Many now also respond via text or chat.
