creator deity
Universe's first cause
A creator deity is a god or divine being credited with bringing the universe, world, or humanity into existence.
Most religions have one: Christianity's God, Hinduism's Brahma, or the Great Spirit in various Indigenous traditions.
Some creator deities remain active in their creation; others withdraw after the initial act.
The Maori creator deity separated earth and sky to make room for life.
