cosmic egg
Universe's mythic origin
A cosmic egg is a mythological concept found across many cultures—the primordial egg from which the universe, a deity, or all existence hatches.
Creation myths from Hindu, Chinese, Egyptian, and Greek traditions feature versions of this origin story.
In modern usage, the term sometimes appears in cosmology discussions as a poetic name for the compressed matter before the Big Bang: The universe emerged from a cosmic egg of infinite density.
