cosmogonies
Universe origin stories
Cosmogonies is the plural of cosmogony, a theory or account of how the universe came into being.
Every culture has cosmogonies—creation myths explaining the origin of everything: Ancient cosmogonies often begin with chaos or a primordial void.
The term also applies to scientific theories: Modern cosmogonies center on the Big Bang.
