consensus building
Reaching shared understanding
Consensus building is the process of bringing a group toward agreement through discussion, compromise, and collaborative problem-solving.
Unlike majority voting, it seeks solutions that all parties can accept, even if no one gets everything they want.
The term appears often in organizational and political contexts: The committee engaged in months of consensus building before announcing the policy.
