conjunto

Latin band style

Conjunto is a style of Texas-Mexican folk music built around the button accordion and bajo sexto (a twelve-string guitar).

The term, Spanish for "group" or "ensemble," refers both to the musical genre and the small bands that play it.

Conjunto emerged along the Texas-Mexico border in the early twentieth century, blending German polka influences with Mexican corridos and rancheras.

We danced to conjunto music at the wedding.
