color TVs
Not black-and-white sets
Color TVs are television sets that display images in full color rather than black and white.
The term emerged in the mid-20th century when color broadcasting became available, distinguishing newer sets from monochrome predecessors.
Now that virtually all televisions are color, the phrase appears mainly in historical contexts or when describing older technology: My grandparents got their first color TV in 1965.
