cognize
Come to know
Cognize means to perceive, know, or become aware of something through mental processes.
The word is technical and rarely used outside philosophy and cognitive science, where it describes the act of acquiring knowledge or forming mental representations: How do we cognize objects in space?
The adjective cognizant, meaning aware, is far more common in everyday speech.
