chinks
Gaps in armor
Chinks are narrow openings or cracks, especially ones that let light through: Sunlight came through chinks in the barn wall.
A chink in armor is a gap in protection, literal or figurative: His temper was a chink in his armor.
Chink is also an ethnic slur for a person of Chinese or East Asian descent—offensive and dehumanizing, though some Asian Americans have reclaimed it ironically.
