chemo port
Implanted medication gateway
A chemo port is a small medical device implanted under the skin, usually in the chest, that provides direct access to a vein for chemotherapy and other intravenous treatments.
The port connects to a catheter threaded into a large vein, allowing repeated infusions without the pain and vein damage of standard IV needles: The nurse accessed her chemo port for the weekly treatment.
Also called a port-a-cath or mediport.
