check number
Draft's sequential code
A check number is the sequential identifier printed on a personal or business check, typically appearing in the upper right corner and repeated on the MICR line at the bottom.
It helps track payments and reconcile bank statements: The bank asked for the check number to trace the missing deposit.
Also called a cheque number in British English.
