chair lifts

Chair lifts are mechanical systems that transport people up slopes, typically at ski resorts.

Riders sit on chairs suspended from an overhead cable that moves continuously along a fixed route.

We took the chair lift to the summit and skied down.

Some chair lifts operate in summer for sightseers and hikers.

Also spelled as one word: chairlifts.
