center channel
Dialogue audio source
The center channel is the speaker in a surround sound system positioned directly in front of the listener, typically above or below the screen.
It handles most dialogue and on-screen action, anchoring sound to the visual center: I could barely hear the actors until I upgraded my center channel.
In audio mixing, center channel refers to this dedicated track in a multichannel recording.
