ceilidhs
Highland dance parties
Ceilidhs is the plural of ceilidh, a Scottish or Irish social gathering featuring traditional music, dancing, and storytelling.
The word is pronounced roughly "KAY-lee." These events range from informal house parties to organized community dances with live folk musicians and called dances: We went to several ceilidhs during our trip to Edinburgh.
