cave wall
Grotto's rocky side
A cave wall is the interior surface of a cave—the rock faces that surround anyone inside.
The term appears most often in discussions of prehistoric art, where early humans painted and carved images: The cave walls at Lascaux are covered with paintings of animals.
Cave wall can also describe the boundary of any enclosed rocky space: Water seeped through cracks in the cave wall.
