catchlights
Reflections in eyes
Catchlights are the small bright reflections of light sources visible in a subject's eyes, particularly in photography and portraiture.
These specular highlights—from windows, studio lights, or the sun—add life and dimension to eyes that would otherwise appear flat or lifeless.
Photographers position lights specifically to create appealing catchlights: The portrait had beautiful catchlights in both eyes.
