captain armband
Team leader's insignia
A captain armband is a band worn around the upper arm to identify the captain of a sports team, most commonly in soccer.
The captain typically wears it throughout the match and passes it to a teammate if substituted: He handed the captain armband to the vice-captain before leaving the pitch.
The armband carries symbolic weight—receiving it represents leadership and honor, while being stripped of it signals disgrace.
