cabbage palm
Southeastern fan palm
A cabbage palm is a type of palm tree with an edible terminal bud, found in the southeastern United States and the Caribbean.
The "cabbage" refers to the pale, tender heart at the crown, harvested as a vegetable—though removing it kills the tree.
The cabbage palm is Florida's state tree.
