beach grass
Sandy shore vegetation
Beach grass is any of several coarse grasses that grow in sandy coastal areas, especially *Ammophila breviligulata* along North American Atlantic shores.
These grasses stabilize dunes with extensive root systems and tolerate salt spray, wind, and drought.
Beach grass is often planted deliberately to prevent erosion: They installed rows of beach grass to protect the dunes.
