brujos
Hispanic magic practitioners
Brujos is the Spanish word for male witches or sorcerers, used in English primarily in contexts involving Latin American or Southwestern U.S. folk traditions.
A brujo practices brujería, a form of folk magic that may include healing, hexes, or communication with spirits.
The term carries different connotations depending on region—sometimes neutral or even positive when associated with curanderismo (folk healing), other times sinister.
The villagers whispered that the old man was one of the brujos.
