brome

Tall forage grass

Brome is a genus of grasses found in temperate regions worldwide, some cultivated for forage and others considered weeds.

Smooth brome is grown as pasture grass; cheatgrass and other bromes can overtake native vegetation.

The name comes from a Greek word for oats, which brome grasses resemble.
