broken record

Same thing, endlessly

A broken record is someone who repeats the same thing over and over, from the way a damaged vinyl record skips and replays the same phrase endlessly: I know I sound like a broken record, but you really need to call your mother.

The image persists even as vinyl records fade from everyday life.
