new idea

Original thinking emerges

A new idea is a thought, concept, or proposal that hasn't been considered before—or hasn't been considered in a particular context.

The phrase often appears in brainstorming or creative work: We need some new ideas for the campaign.

What counts as "new" is relative; an idea new to one person may be old to another, and supposedly new ideas often echo older ones: There's nothing new under the sun.
