brick arch

Curved structural opening

A brick arch is a curved structure made of wedge-shaped bricks spanning an opening such as a doorway, window, or bridge.

The bricks are arranged so their joints radiate from a central point, allowing the arch to support weight through compression rather than requiring a horizontal beam.

Common forms include semicircular, segmental, and pointed arches.

The old warehouse featured decorative brick arches above each window.
