branchline
Feeder rail route
A branchline is a secondary railway track that diverges from a main line to serve smaller towns or rural areas: The old branchline to the coast closed in the 1960s.
Also spelled as two words.
Branchlines typically carry less traffic and may operate with reduced service compared to trunk routes.
