branchlines
Secondary rail routes
Branchlines are secondary railway tracks that diverge from a main line to serve smaller towns or rural areas: The old branchline to the coast closed in the 1960s.
By extension, the term applies to any subsidiary routes or connections splitting off from a primary path.
Usually written as two words: branch lines.
