boxing referee
Fight's third man
A boxing referee is the official inside the ring who enforces rules, ensures fighter safety, and can stop a bout.
The referee counts knockdowns, issues warnings for fouls, and may declare a technical knockout if a fighter can't continue.
Unlike judges who score from ringside, the referee controls the action directly: The referee stepped between the fighters and waved it off.
