born-free
Wild from birth
Born-free describes someone or something that has never known captivity or oppression—free from birth rather than liberated later.
The term gained currency from the 1960 book and film about Elsa the lioness, raised by humans and released into the wild.
In South African usage, born-frees are people born after the end of apartheid in 1994, who grew up without direct experience of institutionalized racial segregation: The born-frees don't remember what it was like.
