bomb timer
Explosive delay mechanism
A bomb timer is a device that detonates an explosive after a set interval.
The term appears in action movies and video games, where characters race to disarm bombs before the countdown reaches zero.
In casual use, it can describe any countdown mechanism with high stakes: The project deadline felt like a bomb timer ticking down.
