body outline
Shape of form
A body outline is the chalk or tape silhouette marking where a corpse was found at a crime scene, allowing investigators to document the body's position after removal.
The image is iconic in detective fiction and crime dramas, though actual police rarely use them: The body outline on the pavement drew a crowd of onlookers.
Figuratively, any rough sketch of a human form.
