boat rescue

Watercraft emergency extraction

A boat rescue is the act of saving people from danger using a watercraft, or the rescue of a boat itself from peril.

The term covers everything from coast guard operations retrieving stranded sailors to volunteers pulling flood victims from rising waters: The boat rescue saved twelve people from the capsized ferry.

It can also mean recovering a vessel that has run aground or begun sinking.
