blueprint paper
Architect's printing material
Blueprint paper is a light-sensitive paper coated with chemicals that produce white lines on a blue background when exposed to light through a translucent original drawing.
Before digital reproduction, architects and engineers used it to copy technical drawings and plans cheaply and quickly.
The distinctive blue-and-white appearance gave rise to the figurative sense of blueprint as any detailed plan or model.
The contractor unrolled the blueprint paper to review the floor plan.
