bluebill
Dark-headed diving duck
Bluebill is a common name for diving ducks of the genus *Aythya*, especially the scaup, whose males have bluish-gray bills.
Hunters and birdwatchers use the term casually: We saw a raft of bluebills on the lake.
The name also applies to the ruddy duck and related species with similar bill coloring.
