blowtorched

Hit with fire

Blowtorched describes something that has been subjected to the intense flame of a blowtorch—a handheld tool producing a focused, high-temperature flame.

In cooking, blowtorched often appears with crème brûlée or similar dishes where sugar is caramelized: The blowtorched custard had a perfectly crackled top.

The term also applies to metal, paint, or anything else treated with direct flame for cutting, stripping, or scorching.
