Bits and pieces are small, miscellaneous items or fragments that don't form a coherent whole: She gathered up the bits and pieces left over from the project.
The phrase often describes incomplete or scattered information: I've heard bits and pieces about what happened, but not the full story.
Sometimes shortened to just bits.
